All-in-one Travel Planner

Designed for all kinds of travelers

What's TRAVIT
Planning for a trip would be much easier if your entire itinerary could be planned and booked for within one workflow.Imagine an experience which recommends or allows a user to search and refine an end-to-end travel itinerary across various touchpoints.

TRAVIT allows travelers to plan, purchase, and manage every trip.

Research
For understanding who's the user, what apps they are using currently, what frustrate them, and what they want, I created a questionnaire on Qualtrics and used Amazon MTurk to distribute the questionnaire. I requested for 20 assignments but finally I got 36 responses (not sure why) . . . . . . 😅
Things I've done in this research:
•  Designed and distributed questionnaires
•  Data analytics and visualization

Main aspects being studied in the research:
•  Who's the users
•  How do they travel
•  Current APPs that are being used
•  Frustrations and expectations

I used Amazon MTurk and Qualtrics to conduct the research
Sample questions
Most respondents age 18-40 and the top 3 industries they work in are IT(26%), Healthcare(18%), and Government/Public(15%). Over 80% of these respondents have >Bachelor's degree, and 64% of them have household income between $10,000-$70,000 annual.
They prefer to travel with friends or spouse, and renting a car or local public transportation are two most popular transportations they will use in their destinations. As for booking preference, most of them tend to spend less orequal amount of money on flight than on hotel.‍
User demographics
" Do you book flight and hotel on same platform at the same time?"
" How will you grade the experience of getting to/from the airport? "
Tripadvisor, Kayak, and Roadtripper are the top 3 most popular tour plan assistants selected by 36 participants.

Here are findings:
•  They like 'Tons of reviews, guides, recommendations, and can check ranks and style of restaurants easily' on Tripadvisor.
•  Kayak focuses on bookings while people will also like to see tour itinerary functionality provided
•  Most respondents think there are too many choices not well-organized in the apps
•  They would like to see recommended local events and influencers' itineraries.
Favorite travel APPs picked and rated by participants
Peer analysis for folk's favorite APPs
Being responded by 36 participants, the survey revealed that hotels, restaurants, and attractions are the three most important recommendations for users. For 'nice to have' recommendations,

'Local events' won by being selected by 20 out of 36 participants, and one participant left suggestion 'I want to see something unique per trip'.
Design
The initial design purpose is 'manage every piece of your tour on one platform', so for locking users and increasing the viscosity of this product, I need to make sure the application functions as an ecosystem, which means most information (intellectual property) would be created, cycled, and used inside the application.

For example, Ideas functions as the Creation department, in which users will be encouraged to leave their travel stories, attractions reviews, and itinerary recommendation. During this procedure, they will be rewarded with points that could be used innext purchase. Information assets generated under Ideas would be referenced when users are planning a trip or be sent to traveling users under Travel Mode.
